Te Waka Taiohi | Juniors

Te Waka Taiohi o Tahu is the name of the Junior section of Te Waka Pounamu Outrigger Canoe club established in 2012.

Te Waka Taiohi is aimed at getting tamariki, rangatahi and whanau involved in the sport and traditions associated with waka, including waka unua, waka tiwai, waka ama and mokihi.

Generally, we hold weekly training sessions over the summer months (Sept-March) each Sunday from 9.45am-12.pm at Naval Point or at Kerrs Reach.  However, all communications about the sessions are done via the Te Waka Taiohi Facebook Group: www.facebook.com/groups/288065581399181

Trainings are based on developing teams in the following categories:

  • Midget (6-10 years)

  • Intermediate (11-13 years)

  • J16 (14-16 years)

  • J19 (16-19 years)
